commit a1b2c3d - author: Oliver Wakefield-Smith - verified 21 Jun 2026
Cursor BugBot ($40 add-on + $40 Cursor Business prereqsrc) is an IDE-attached bug-finder. CodeRabbit ($24/dev/mosrc) is a PR-comment bot. These are different products. The right comparison is "run both" not "pick one".
@@ where each lives @@orthogonal
1BugBot: in your editor, before commit. Surfaces defects in the file you are touching.
2CodeRabbit: on the pull request, after push. Leaves comments your team-mate would.

@@ should you run both @@opinion
1+Yes, if the team standardised on Cursor anyway. IDE-time signal + PR-time signal stack well; they catch different defect classes.
2-No, if you would have to migrate the team to Cursor just to use BugBot. The $40 prereq is doing too much work.
@@ noise budget @@dev experience
1Running both creates ambient AI noise. Watch the team's annoyance level: when authors start ignoring the bot, signal-to-noise has failed and you should disable one.
